2019 Wendling Vineyard, North Slope, Pinot Noir 1.5L Magnum
Wendling Vineyard is named for the Wendling family, one of the founding wine families of the Anderson Valley. It is the last vineyard in the Anderson Valley AVA and the closest in the valley to the Pacific Ocean.
+ This all-star Pinot Noir vineyard was planned and planted with a multitude of Pinot Noir selections and rootstocks under the consultation of Ted Lemon (Littorai Wines) about eight years ago.
+ It is farmed with intense precision and care by Paul Ardzrooni. Paul manages some of the best vineyards in the Anderson Valley, of which Wendling is considered the marquee vineyard.
+ Wendling is situated directly across the road from the Kiser Vineyard but its fruit ripens earlier due to its south and southwestern-facing sun exposure, younger vines and deeper soils.
+ This is a blend of four blocks on the north side of the vineyard. It is comprised of 667, 115, 828, 943 clones as well as a block with mixed varieties including suitcase selections from Grand Cru Burgundy vineyards.
+ “The 2019 Pinot Noir Wendling Vineyard North Slope is marvelously complex right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, herbs, gravel and earthy inflections add layers of savory intensity to this wonderfully expressive, complete Pinot Noir.” 95+ points—Antonio Galloni
