2023 Sonoma Valley Gamay
We are longtime fans of great cru Beaujolais for its friendliness and the joy we get drinking it so we jumped
at the chance to make Gamay. We admire the Gamay grape for its ability to be both easy and serious at
the same time and we aspired to capture that quality in our first ever single variety bottling. The grapes
come from a small vineyard on the side of Sonoma Mountain where the owners had believed they had
Pinot Noir for 20 years.
+ This wine was grown in one of the coolest vintages of the last 20 years in Northern California. These grapes
were not harvested until October 19 at only 21 brix.
+ We fermented these grapes using 100% whole cluster fermentation in small, two-ton, open-top
fermenters.
+ The ‘23 Gamay was aged in only neutral French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.
+ This wine is of medium-light weight in the best way possible; aromatic, fresh, and a beautiful balance
between woodsy and fruity. Much like our Ya Moon, a bottle of this will not last long once opened.
