2023 Reeve Heritage Pinot Noir
This is a blend of heritage clones from the Sonoma Coast. Heritage clones are those that have mutated in
place, here in California, to become their own unique expression of the grape. In terms of Pinot Noir you
will hear names like Mt. Eden, Calera and Swan as some of these heritage clones that pay tribute to the
site of the new material. This wine pays tribute to our unique viticultural history and is a singular
expression of Pinot.
+ In 2023 we had a dream vintage from Coastal Pinot Noir. Cool throughout with very long hangtime but
pristine fruit. This led to bright flavors with lots of earthy aromas and flavors.
+ This is a relatively early bottling for us. Most of our Pinot Noirs get aged “over-vintage” meaning through
the following vintage, for about 18-20 months. For this particular wine we like it aged for only 10 months,
as it promotes more primary notes.
+ The wine is comprised of Heintz and Las Cimas Vineyards all of which were fermented separately in
small two ton, open-top, fermenters using native yeasts.
+ The final composite is 30% whole cluster fermentation. Aged in 20% new French oak, and 20% once-
used French oak, and the remainder being in neutral barrels.
